MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL... AND GIVEAWAY TOO!

I know it's just the beginning of September, but here at my house, when school starts the Halloween planning begins. After all, we need something to look forward to, right? You can see from the photos below that for the past three years Frannie has opted to be a fairytale princess. Well, this past weekend we went to our nearest Joann's (about 25 miles away - for some reason they won't put one closer - arrrrgh!) and purchased our costume pattern and fabric for this year.

Snow White - 2005
(Would you believe I hand-sewed those red-sequins around each of the red tear drops on the sleeves individually. What was I thinking?!!)

Cinderella - 2006
(Thank goodness for Walmart - that's where I purchased all this gaudy fabric!)

Sleeping Beauty - 2007
(By the way, the trim at the bottom of this costume is vintage, from the 50's. I have oodles and oodles of it, that's why I didn't mind using it on a costume.)

? - 2008

So here's the deal: Make a comment and tell me who or what you think Frannie will be for Halloween 2008. All the people who guess correctly will have their names put into a hat, and on Wednesday, September 30th, at 8:00 pm EST, Frannie will pick a winner. If no one guesses correctly, then everyone's name will be put into the hat. Now, when you make your comment, make sure you specify which prize you would like. You may choose either a Halloween banner made by me (if you liked the cupcake banner at Sharon's party, then you'll probably like the Halloween one too (I can't show you a picture of it because I haven't completed it yet), or you may pick a bead knitted purse like the one shown in my post of Saturday, August 9th. It will be made out of these festive, fun and funky orange/silver-lined seed beads (they really sparkle!) - just right for the upcoming Halloween/harvest season.

Orange w/Silver Lining Size 11 Seed Beads

So keep those comments coming in girls. I love to hear from you all!

Also, you are VERY talented with the needle and thread! My little girl (she's 3) is going to be a tomato this year (she loves them). A no-sew project for this sewing novice!

I'm thinking that Frannie should go as ME! A Princess Blogger. LOLOL Just kidding Frannie. I think I'll pick Alice in Wonderland too. And I'd LOVE a Halloween banner.

....I am thinking she is going for a different look this year and going as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz....I would love the knitted purse - and if I win can I donate it to Jen?

Carla said...

LOL The Cupcake Queen. No, really, I was also thinking Dorothy. Both prizes are great so either one would do me. Your costumes of previous years are really cute.

Thank you for writing to me and telling me about your dee-lightful giveaway, Marsha! You're welcome for the comments, too! Miss Frannie is so adorable! I think Ariel the Little Mermaid would suit her very well. I like the other answers, too, but before I read them, Ariel came to mind. My granddaughter loves Ariel, too.

I think she's going to retire from the Disney princess era and be Hannah Montana.

But in case I'm wrong, my next pick (for the beaded purse) would be Jasmine.

Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ. LOVE the purse!

wow, you can really create some beautiful costumes.your darling will appreciate that some day.
Hanna Montana she will be and I will take the lovely beaded purse,

Vacuum Queen said...

Hmmmm...well, my first thought would be that she is exactly like my own daughter and she will choose Ariel because mermaids are very "in" right now. BUT...I'm not making that my official guess. Instead...I'll venture to guess what my daughter has chosen...and I'll say she is going to be the equally frilly...FANCY NANCY!

I am currently sewing up the purple ruffly version of Fancy Nancy. Maybe we'll have to compare photos after I win this guessing game. :)

Vacuum Queen said...

oh shoot...forgot to say that I'd choose the banner, although the seed bead purse sounds lovely. Fancy Nancy...think about how cute that would be...
:)

Deb said...

It has to be Belle of Beauty and the Beast! She is a beautiful princess!

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing Ariel, the Little Mermaid.....that's what my sweet grand wants to be. The beaded purse please.

Anonymous said...

If the princess theme holds true, I'm guessing Belle from "Beauty and the Beast."

How many guesses do we get? 'Cause if we can have more than one, I'll put them all in here. My second guess is Ariel from "The Little Mermaid," and my third guess is Jasmine from "Aladdin." (And I'd be happy with either the purse or the banner, to tell the truth.)

No matter what she chooses, though, I've no doubt she'll be wearing a stunning costume!

(By the way, it's such a delight to see a blogger who shares my first name and, like me, spells it the right way! Heh.)

Mirror, mirror on the Wall,
Whats she gonna be this Fall
Whatever it is, its gonna be fun
Because she has such a clever mum!

My GD says, Hannah Montana, so I will go with that. Although I wanted to choose Little Bo Peep. But maybe you don't know who that is across the pond.

You do beautiful work, she is a lucky girl.

I definitely think she will be Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I love the knitted purses and would love to have one.
Have a Blessed Day,
Diane

One more post from me... can't remember if I guessed this one. Tinkerbell. Maybe I'll be lucky! Again, beaded bag please, if I am the lucky winner.

Jen :)

Nancy said...

I think she is going to go as the twin of her American Girl doll. Your cupcake banner was amazing and so are those bags. I can't even knit a scarf.

Kim said...

I guess Ariel. She is so cute with her costumes so far. I woul love the banner. Thanks for sharing

I have three girls and I made all those dresses myself.
I made all princess dresses except Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
I got very busy one year and I got Belle's dress at Disney store...
It's a Belle!
BTW, you did a great job choosing fabrics!
